TARGET YOUR POSTERIOR CHAIN WITH THE MATT WENNING GOOD MORNING MACHINE

Establishing perfect form whilst undertaking a good morning exercise with a barbell can be tricky.  However, with Matt Wenning's Good Morning Machine this takes out the guess work and enables you to carry out the movement easily and effectively, minimising any potential for injury.

    SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

The movement itself is a hip hinge exercise where you bend at the waist and return to a standing position and is in the same category as compound movements such as the deadlift and squat.  Doing the exercise in a smooth, controlled way will give your posterior chain an exceptionally good workout increasing strength and muscle mass.

Matt's Good Morning machine features both leg pads and a back pad which lock you into place and help to keep your spine in a neutral position throughout the movement.   Simply, lower yourself forward and then drive your hips forward to return to your standing position.

You can opt to add weight plates to make the exercise more difficult or utilise the band pegs by using resistance bands.

WHAT MUSCLES WILL IT BE TARGETING?

The Good Morning machine is a fantastic way to increase leg, hip and back strength and with continued use you'll notice a marked improvement with your squats and deadlifts helping you to break through any plateaus.

It can be a somewhat overlooked exercise simply because of the potential for spinal injury. This is why Matt's machine is so crucial as it will allow you to perform this movement with great form, reaping the benefits.

As well as targeting your posterior chain, you'll also be hitting your entire back and core.

As with Matt's Belt Squat his Good Morning Machine is a truly great tool to perfect form of the more difficult exercises.
